About the 2008 Conference
On Tuesday, March 11, 2008, the Bucks County Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence held its 22nd Annual Lead On! Youth Leadership Conference from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Bucks County Community College in Newtown.
The conference was open to all Bucks County middle and high school students and their advisors.
The conference featured two presentations and two sessions of workshops, presented by facilitators from various agencies in Bucks County and beyond who generously volunteered their time.
In addition, there was a Volunteer Awards ceremony to honor those students who exhibited outstanding prevention efforts in the area of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs.
Conference Goals
- To encourage the involvement, networking and interaction of students in prevention, and to support the non-use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs.
- To provide students and advisors an opportunity to network and share their thoughts, feelings and ideas on important life skills issues.
- To honor students who have made an important impact in their school's prevention programs.
- To provide current, accurate information; to develop resiliency skills; and to present prevention ideas, projects and programs which the students can replicate in their school communities.
- To further the combined efforts of schools, communities and agencies to grow, develop and become more informed about matters affecting their lives.
